What is AtlasPROfilax®?
The AtlasPROfilax® Technique is a safe, natural and holistic technique for relieving back and neck pain, headaches, or other related pain, through realignment of the Atlas bone. It typically requires only ONE single session and does not involve any kind of stressful manipulations of the neck, it is non-invasive, non-medicinal and non-chiropractic.
A Natural Pain Relief Technique?…
Most people who suffer from a misaligned Atlas do so without ever realising that their postural imbalance and common aches and pains may have a quick and simple solution through a realignment of their Atlas.
The revolutionary method AtlasPROfilax® developed by René-Claudius Schümperli between 1993 and 1996, realigns the top vertebra in the neck, the Atlas or C1, by a very specific and unique correction of the soft-tissue that holds the Atlas in place. Optimal health and correct posture (standing or walking) were only concepts to the Swiss born Rene-Claudius Schumperli for most of his life.
Rene C. Schumperli in his early years had fractured his first cervical vertebrae: the Atlas. He then suffered for what seemed to be an endless period of time. Like many other people have found, neither traditional nor alternative medicines were able to relieve his pain. Having tried numerous therapies, R.C.Schumperli at best only benefited from temporary relief.
Out of despair and without any real solution, R. C. Schumperli, who had developed skills and knowledge trying to overcome his own disability and pain, decided to study the spine position from a new angle and this led to his development of the natural pain relief technique now referred to as the ‘AtlasPROfilax®’ method. In developing this natural pain treatment, Mr. Schumperli discovered that the Atlas vertebra is misaligned in a vast number of people and that it can both safely and effectively be realigned, returning it to its original neutral position using a simple massage technique, typically in only one single session.
Although requiring neither medicinal nor chiropractic intervention and an uncomplicated procedure, the AtlasPROfilax® technique nonetheless should only be attempted and carried out by a fully qualified Atlas practitioner, otherwise known as an Atlasprof®, trained and certified by the International Association of Qualified Atlasprofs (IAQA).

The rotation causes a reduction in the diameter of the aperture at the base of the skull and vertebral canal.
This disrupts the normal flow of information between the brain and body through the vertebral and carotid arteries, and the lymphatic system, the cerebrospinal fluid, the meningeal system and the spinal cord.

The Atlas carries not only the skull, but also facilitates SUSPENSION, BALANCE and CONTROL of the human spine and skeletal system.

One example of a major change to the posture that could be caused by a misaligned Atlas is the scoliotic pelvis.
How Might a Misaligned Atlas Affect the Body?
Extensive research demonstrates that the upper neck is important in relation to our health and emotional balance. The top vertebra in the neck is called the Atlas and it essentially supports the skull, in many cases it is found to be somewhat out of place, being typically rotated forward and to the left, which thus may cause a variety of problems. A misaligned Atlas can potentially lead to significant adverse changes to the posture.
The spine can be compared to a chain. When the first link is twisted each subsequent link, right down to the last, also turns slightly thereby disrupting the rest of the chain. The whole back bone tries to compensate for such imbalance. This can result in a variety of symptoms such as: neck pain, stiff neck, back pain, lumbago, herniated disc, scoliosis (curved spine), jammed spinal nerves, scoliotic pelvis, pain in the hip, joints, knee pain, meniscus, and many other painful problems that might reduce mobility and/or impact adversely on the enjoyment of life.
When the Atlas is misaligned and the spinal column is unbalanced, the central nervous system is not able to function at its best. The neck is the passage for the nerves, veins, arteries, cerebrospinal fluid and the spinal canal through which is transmitted all information between the brain and the various organs.
Misalignment of the Atlas may thus, according to the degree to which it is misaligned, put the spinal cord, cranial nerves and other nerve channels under constant pressure. The reduction of the opening of spinal canal (foramen magnum) affects the proper communication between the brain and the organs. It may also result in neurological disorders due to the pressure on the lower part of the brainstem which deals with vital functions. Due to the connection of our vertebrae to the energetic pathways of our internal organs and emotional patterns, such a twist of the spine is potentially also able to unbalance the psyche.
